Retreat Recap: healing with cold plunge and Violent Femmes
Friends of Mission Flexible,
We just got back from another spectacular retreat at the delightful Lotus Ranch near Austin, TX.
We had Veterans from five branches of the military (still waiting on our first Space Force Vet) and somehow we had SEVEN Marines!
During the four-day retreat, we practiced yoga, meditation, and therapeutic writing. We learned about East African drumming, regenerative farming, and sound baths. We did a cold plunge and spa night. We cried and hugged and danced to Violent Femmes.
It was epic. And there is video:
Each time I lead a retreat, I become more convinced of the power and importance of this work. Every time, I am so impressed with the new Veterans who have the courage to show up and become part of our MF family.
As our new participants said:
“The retreat was the most worthwhile thing I've done for myself in years. I wish I had found this when I first retired from the Army.”
“Finding Mission Flexible has had a significant impact on my life and mental wellness.”
“Lisa’s approach is unique and effective because her genuine love for those around her encourages kindness, openness, and the courage to explore our innermost fears. She relates to our traumas and our need to be seen, heard, and understood on our own terms. She knows how to reach out and give us stability so we can stand and gaze up, not down.”
I am so grateful to be able to do this work, and I’m looking forward to more! Here is a list of our upcoming retreats:
May 18 - 21, 2023: Seven Oaks Retreat Center in Madison, Virginia
August 10 - 13, 2023: Skyland Camp - Clyde, North Carolina
Fall 2023: Camp for All outside of Houston, Texas
September 12 - 15, 2024: Rising Star, Texas (yeah, we’re planning way ahead here)
The May retreat is currently full, and applications for the August and fall retreats will be available soon.
We are working on building up our social media to reach out to more Veterans, so I’d be grateful for a follow or a share.
Thank you so much for reading, and for supporting this organization. We could not do it without you.
